Background Story, Who are these crazy folks?

Well, who are Mike and Pat Montgomery and why do they live the way they do? The story is simple and makes all the since in the world to us. We have been married for 20 years this June and we have always enjoyed camping and we did so on our vacations for years while I was still in the Navy. We bought our first RV about 16 years ago (Starcraft popup camper) and used it to make our yearly trips to areas in and around Virginia. A few years later we purchased a 24 ft travel trailer and used it for our more frequent trips but still just on the east coast. Then in May 2004, 4 years after I retired from the navy and started my next career we found a 2 year old 35' Winnebago Adventurer and everything lined up and seemed meant to be so we purchased it and started what would be the next chapter in our life. We loved taking the RV out on trips on the weekends and on our vacations but that wasn't enough we wanted more. Plus it was a real pain to load and unload the motorhome with food and clothes when we got ready to go camping. So we agreed to try living in the RV fulltime when we went to Georgia to visit my family for Thanksgiving that same year. We returned from Georgia and stayed in the RV. We loved it even though the winter in the RV was a new challenge. By February the next year we had sold our house and had given away all of our furniture and large items. Most went to our kids and some were donated  but it was a done deal. We were now members a select group of pioneers that had made the move to a fulltime RV lifestyle. People thought we were nuts but we knew we had found what we really needed, the freedom to go RVing (camping) when we wanted and still maintain jobs until we are old enough to take off on our next new adventure. That is the beginning of this story. I will fill in more information as I add to this Blog. So until next time remember life is short so do what you want to do now not tomorrow.

THE FIRST POST

Well, here I am posting my first Blog. I will try and keep this short but I will get more long winded as time goes by. This Blog will be the adventures of Mike (me) and Pat (wife) as we continue our not so unique Fulltime RV life. We live in our 2004 Itasca Meridian 39k Motor Home with our 3 Tonkinese cats (Socrates, Kiira and Tiberius), our Miniature Schnauzer (Maximus) and Cockatiel (Fred).We will try and make this a s interesting as possible and will share ideas on our RV and the the upgrades I have done to it.
